I am beyond excited to share this gorgeous Central Park NYC Engagement! I met with Abby and Anthony at sunrise in the park. While we did meet very early in the morning, the lost sleep was absolutely worth it! With the park practically to ourselves, we enjoyed our time while I captured several incredible moments of this beautiful couple! We took our time exploring the park and all it had to offer.
Central Park NYC Engagement
We started at the base of the iconic central park steps that are often seen in movies. From there we enjoyed picturesque views from the water fountain where the couple sat together. The reflection off the water paired with the tree line meeting the horizon as the sun was coming up was truly beautiful!
Next, we walked along the brick path and enjoyed the old, charming architecture of the surrounding bridges, stairs, and buildings. My favorite images from Abby and Anthony’s stunning Central park Engagement session was towards the end of their session as they walked across the bridge. The sun had just risen up into the sky providing streams of golden morning sunshine! The light and airy images of the couple are breathtaking. I definitely stalled a little here because the lighting was just too good. It was the perfect ending to their NYC engagement portraits!
Their Love story
Abby and Anthony live in Florida and came to New Jersey for their bridal shower and NYC Engagement Session! I loved getting to know them before and during our session together. They are such a sweet couple with a beautiful story!
The couple met, “in university at the University of Ottawa which is the capital of Canada. More specifically we met at a popular bar called Pub 101 downtown, my roommate was talking to one of Anthony’s teammates as Anthony stood there and we were introduced. Anthony played on the Varsity Hockey team, and many of our weekends were spent at the rink for his games and going out with friends at night.” The couple tells me that they both “knew from the start we were meant for each other . . .”
The Proposal
Even though the couple lives in FL now, Anthony is originally from New Jersey and Abby is from the Toronto area in Canada. Abby recalls that during Christmas time every year, she would beg to go to NYC and see the beautiful Christmas tree display at Rockefeller center. She always wanted to end the evening with a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to grab pizza. Since Anthony grew up near the city, he didn’t have a strong desire to visit very often, but they still managed to make the trip each year to see the tree, but never made the trip over the bridge to get the pizza, at least not until December 21st, 2020!
Abby recounts the evening foundly stating “he finally took me and our pup Hendy over the Brooklyn Bridge after a stroll in Central Park, not sure how I did not think anything of it but I didn’t. After asking for various photoshoots while crossing the bridge we entered DUMBO Street and Anthony asked for a photo and smoothly went down on one knee… to be honest I blacked out and then comes Anthony’s Family running out from hiding behind cars and my parents in my face on facetime. The easiest yes of my life!”
The Engagement Ring
“Anthony did very good, with some ideas from me and assistance from his mom. The ring is an elongated cushion cut with a hidden halo beneath of diamonds. The band has diamonds going around it, and it sparkles in the daylight like a dream.”
