Knight’s Park | Childhood Portraits
I’d love to share with you my latest childhood portrait session. Such fun! Golden Light, childhood play, and baby’s breath… these are just a few elements that describe our time together. Our session took place in Knight’s Park located in Collingswood, New Jersey. During sunset, the park’s atmosphere looked like it was straight from a fairytale. Seriously, it was breathtaking… somewhat magical. From the soft golden sunlight reflecting off the pond to the peek-a-boo sun rays through the trees, these all became complete with Princess J’s giggles.
Sometimes when scheduling outdoor portraits, my clients and I become like meteorologists. Seriously =) I laugh now because I can say that I literally checked the weather several times a day just to see the chances of rain. When it came to our session, we had to change our date twice because of rain. Not just a light sprinkling, it was a cold windy downpour. This is why my hat goes off to sweet J’s mom for working around Mother Nature’s Spring showers. Finally, a few weeks later, the sun came through and the third time was a charm. Our weather was sunny and in the 90s… absolutely beautiful!
When photographing little ones, the session becomes like playtime. I approach these with a photojournalistic style. I captured Princess J’s playing, laughing, curiosity, and wonder. This was Baby J in the moment. Knight’s Park became her playground and her garden. She loved the camera. She really did and it was adorable! There were several moments where she ran around stopped in front of me and smiled to the camera. Just pure sweetness!
Here’s a little love note, I call Butterfly Kisses, from mom and dad to their little one:
Butterfly Kisses
“My little Jujubean, I promise to always be your parent before being your friend. I promise to make you mad, if it means keeping you safe. I promise to always be truth in a sea of falsehoods. And I promise to always LOVE you even if I don’t like you.”
Love, Mom and Dad
