This is officially my first blog! I have been wanting to create it for my photography business for a long time. My blog will be a mixture of personal, photography, education, and just fun topics. Since this is my first post, I thought it to be a perfect time for readers to know a little more about their photographer…me!
1. Why did I choose Joie as part of my business name?
I have always been intrigued about the meaning of names. My first name is Jocelyn, which means Joy or Merry. My childhood nickname is Joie which also means, you guessed it, joy 😉 When it came to choosing a business name, I just knew I had to have Joie… a little bit of me. This one word means so much to me. I want to always remember to appreciate the joys in life. In all stages of life. May I choose joy to share with others. Yes, a person’s attitude is contagious- let it be positive. Lastly, Nehemiah 8: The Joy of the Lord is our strength.
2. Early bird or night owl?
I am most definitely the early bird. I love waking up and enjoying the stillness of the day before the world begins the hustle.
3. Coffee or Tea?
Um, BOTH! I can’t choose between the two! To me, coffee and tea have different personalities… yes I am definitely personifying them, HA! But, seriously, I can lean to one or the other depending what mood I’m in. For example, if I need that extra jolt in the morning, coffee it is. On the other hand, if I just want to relax and enjoy complex notes and flavors than tea is my pal. Whichever one I choose, I love it simple no sugar and maybe a dash of some type of milk. A great dessert tea is blueberry tea with a dash of almond milk… it taste like blueberry pie! And coffee taste Ah-mazing blended with a teaspoon of coconut oil. I tried to find the word for a person who loves both and did not find one. So here is my made up word for someone who loves tea and coffee… teacafe lover …that’s me 🙂
4. How did you start with photography?
I feel like photography found me. I was the young girl always with a film camera in her purse. The one who grew up seeing her parents taking and appreciating pictures…memories. My wonderful husband noticed my hidden passion and surprised me with my first digital camera on mother’s day 2010. I wasn’t a mom then and we weren’t expecting. However, my hubby told me that he was excited to see my creativity and passion come together in photo art…so we can fill up our home with our memories. Just melt my heart! I realized then that my soul was thirsty for creative expression and the camera was the instrument, my childhood comfort, to develop it.
5. Besides photography, what else do you like to do?
I love health and enjoy reading anything that’s in the medical or naturopathic fields. (I may have been a doctor in another life… hee hee 🙂
Nature grounds me. It’s my zen. I can get lost in it. Sunsets. Adventure walks. Sandy toes. Waterfalls. Wildflowers and roses! I can see God in His creation and I love it.
My ultimate pleasure is my family. The ones who have brought so many joys to my life! All the above means more because I am a mom, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Life is full of joys. We just have to acknowledge them 😉
OX OX OX,
